Daniel Ellsberg to Headline Impeachment Event in Concord

Brookline, NH - NH State Representative Betty Hall is hosting Dr. Daniel Ellsberg, Vietnam War critic, for a special event at the Capitol Center for the Arts Monday April 14 at 7pm. It was Ellsberg who released the Pentagon papers which helped end the Vietnam War. Ellsberg will be headlining a group of supporters for Betty Hall's HR24, which, if passed in the NH House would ask the US House to begin an investigation to verify if there is sufficient cause to hold our government leaders responsible, as provided in Jefferson's Manual, Section 603. Hall's petition specifically cites President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. The historic vote will come to the NH House on Wednesday, April 16.

If passed, it will represent the first time that a state legislature would have invoked the special privilege to ask the US House for investigations to begin with a President and Vice-President. It does not need to be passed through the NH Senate, nor obtain the signature of NH Governor Lynch.
Hall has stated, "My failure to vote for the NH House Resolution for the Nixon Impeachment is the absolutely biggest regret of my legislative career. That is why I am so dedicated to doing this now."

Also present will be former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark, who served under President Lyndon B. Johnson; Dr. Robert Bowman, who was the director of the Star Wars missile defense program under Presidents Ford and Carter; John Nichols, writer for The Nation magazine and author of "The Genius of Impeachment: The Founders' Cure for Royalism"; Phil Burk, businessman and impeachment scholar who is versed in the rules of law outlined in Jefferson's Manual. Other dignitaries are rescheduling commitments to attend the historic gathering, which is open to the public.

Speakers are scheduled for a 4 pm press conference at the restored Victorian mansion, Kimball House, as well as a 5:30 pm reception with NH State Representatives who will be able to personally exchange opinions with the honored guests.

The public is invited to contact the Capitol Center for the Arts for tickets (225-1111) for the Monday April 14, 7pm event; tickets go on sale Monday, April 7. Free on street parking and free parking at the Capital Commons Garage on Storrs Street, after 5:00.

Re: Daniel Ellsberg to Headline Impeachment Event in Concord

Planning and doing aggressive war is the supreme international crime on earth, says the Nuremburg Trials. The U.S. is signed on to this treaty which was chaired by the U.S. Judge Jackson in 1945. The U.S. Constitution also says that international treaties are supreme law of the land. That being so, and as Bushco is required to make an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, it seems obvious to common people that Bushco and the Dems have done a highest of crimes and misdemeanors in the U.S. aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. Impeachment therefore is on the U.S. Constitution table and no govt. offical can take it off the table until dealt with. Impeach now, to end the war crimes, and bring the troops home alive. Over one million dead Iraqi people since the 03 invasion is just too big a international crime to sweep under the rug.

high crimes and misdemeanors

You don't have to find some specific treaty or statute to say that the Bush administration has committed high crimes and misdemeanors, though it may help.

"High crimes and misdemeanors" doesn't mean a breach of some statute or written law. The term isn't limited to violations of the law for which a person can be indicted in a criminal court. The term developed at least 3 centuries before the American Revolution in English common law and for at least 600 years has meant an offense against the State, a major abuse of power, or a serious breach of the public trust by a high ranking official. The framers of the US Constitution intentionally left it undefined so that the Congress and the political process of the day could determine what constitutes a high crime or misdemeanor.

In the case of Bush, you don't have to find specific violations of a treaty or statute to impeach them. There's any number of major abuses of power and breaches of the public trust during the Bush administration to turn to, from NSA wiretapping, to rendition and torture, to the various issues involved in invading Iraq, which can provide ample grounds for impeachment.

Good. See if he can get Kelly Ayotte impeached too.

While I will not be in attendance, I couldn't agree more. I found out about this movement through Civil Rights Attorney Harold Burbank, a former AAG who took exception to the way that NH AG Kelly Ayotte handled the Franconia shooting tragedy, she in turn lied to him:

christopher-king.blogspot.com/2008/04/kingcast-says-lets-not-forget-that-nh.html

And then she lied to the entire Country:

Unequivocal proof that NH AG Kelly Ayotte knew more about Floyd than she let on, and she lied about Floyd to the Media.

08 April 2008

KingCast says holy cow....another lie from NH Senior AG Jeffrey Strelzin and Ayotte about 3 time felon Gregory W. Floyd; what they knew about him......[snip]

Ayotte should be impeached just as surely as Bush should be impeached.

Re: Good. See if he can get Kelly Ayotte impeached too.

Has anyone tried to get the state legislature look into the Liko Kenney case, since we're discussing the state legislature?

Re: Re: Good. See if he can get Kelly Ayotte impeached too.

Actually Bill Kenney wrote me in support of a recent Right-to-Know request to Speaker Norelli, which is borderline late coming back to me as I sent it on 3 April 2008:

christopher-king.blogspot.com/2008/04/kingcastbill-kenney-rsa-91-request-to.html

We ask for any and all emails to and from her office on HB 1428 and a special prosecutor relative to fraudulent statements issued in support of that measure.

And I've got a pending FOIA request out to the U.S. Attorney's Office on 3-time felon Gregory W. Floyd, since they told me 2 months ago they were going to the ATF on him for an 18 U.S.C. 922 (g)(1) violation, felon with firearms. He's still allegedly shooting guns at his property and stands trial on 15 April for threatening his neighbor with a gun.

Shaheen and Gordon is representing Floyd, and Floyd's son who was recently arrested on a $360 theft charge from his employer, Wal-Mart.

I'll let you know.

Anyone get audio...?

I don't think any of the Making Waves folks made it to this... did anyone get any audio and would you be willing to let us use it? Thanks...

Quote-of-the-Moment

I say we take the oil. I don't think people realize the super-crisis mode the North Country is in. When you talk about the cost of fuel oil and how it hits a family, our average family income is half what it is down in southern New Hampshire.
