Manch Vegas Livejournal Time!

There used to be a woodframe duplex on Manchester's West Side that had a video camera in the doorway and the words "DONUT SHOP" written in duct tape -- DUCT TAPE -- on the mailbox. I always felt tempted to knock on the door and ask for a dozen donuts.

Re: As far as I'm concerned...

Once when I was working for a candidate in NH we had a press conference in one of those French Canadian social clubs in Manchester. I had to sit at a literature table in front of the door to the room with the video poker machines and make sure none of the journalists accidentally wandered in there. Surprisingly, none of the press seemed to notice the steady stream of blue-haired French ladies entering the club and disappearing behind the lit table.

Quote-of-the-Moment

I say we take the oil. I don't think people realize the super-crisis mode the North Country is in. When you talk about the cost of fuel oil and how it hits a family, our average family income is half what it is down in southern New Hampshire.
-- Republican Sen. John Gallus on 'controversy' of accepting oil assistance for low income people from Citgo and the socialist government of Venezuela.
