Great piece that ties the communal history to current economic reality. I appreciated, especially, the evolution of communal efforts into current day businesses that incorporate the ideals of the communal movement. Any information on the west coast communal movement? I was in San Francisco 1967 - 1969 and have lived communally several times since then. It is still my preferred lifestyle for many reasons. Family responsibilities (special needs children) have made it difficult to continue following my heart.
