on second thought

Perhaps I shouldn't be worried about the effects of prosecuting/scaring Ken on the rape-culture and chauvenism at large...

Our culture is clearly unwilling to make Ken responsible for his actions of its own accord, so it's going to take someone who recognizes this abuse to hold him accountable.

As a real - not abstracted, general - instance of abuse this should trump any strategic attack against the culture at large. Or should it? This is not rhetorical, I am actually unsure.

Any thoughts/feelings?

Re: on second thought

I don't think it's either/or. We can find some justice for Ken specifically and show the culture at large that there are people that won't tolerate this shit. It's good to have a local hook that isn't just an abstract attack against a culture or an institution like patriarchy. Not that these aren't worth fighting, in fact, people like Ken are exactly the front we should be fighting on. Who else is going to do it?

Quote-of-the-Moment

I say we take the oil. I don't think people realize the super-crisis mode the North Country is in. When you talk about the cost of fuel oil and how it hits a family, our average family income is half what it is down in southern New Hampshire.
