Re: Does New Hamshire Independant remember the Manny Gonzales story?

Since I am the site editor who took down the Manny Gonzales article, please let me explain.

Our site's editorial policy states that articles reposted on 10 or more other sites will be removed. Since the Manny Gonzales article has been reposted across the web, I removed it per this policy. The goal of this policy is to create space for locally-produced content.

My decision about this did not have anything to do with Manny Gonzales' no doubt unjust imprisonmemt. I would encourage those interested to read about his story at LA Indymedia.

I'll start a discussion with the Editorial Collective to see what they think.

Re: Re: Does New Hamshire Independant remember the Manny Gonzales story?

As another site editor, I support Rob's decision.

Like Rob wrote, we remove reposts in order to allow for more local content on the site. This policy also keeps NH IMC from becoming homogeneous with other IMC sites. We don't remove reposts because of their content, and we delete many good articles under this policy. However, since we prohibited reposts two years ago, our site has become more locally oriented and a better tool for the local community.

While we don't find and remove every article reposted to our site, we remove reposts all the time. In fact, I removed another IMC repost just a few minutes before seeing this discussion thread.

Re: Re: Does New Hamshire Independant remember the Manny Gonzales story?

Thank you Rob for all your support, and one day Americas Middle Class and Working Poor Americans
will all be able to look back on this injustice and laugh about how the WWW free speech enjoyed on all of the Indy Media sites world wide was able to assist in bringing future Congressional legislation assisting the tens of thousands of falsely imprisoned American citizens across America their proper legal representation
in our US Federal Courts of Appeal.
Manny Gonzales is the Poster Child example of 100,000 in this country who are in need of federal appeal legal counsel, and if forced to write their own legal cases, are destined to stay falsely imprisoned for 20 or 25 more years! Rob,Federal Appeal lawyers are currently only for wealthy Americans to benefit from, and we are here lobbying for the rights of all Americans to utilize our US Federal Appeal judicial system properly, not just the guilty affluent!

Quote-of-the-Moment

I say we take the oil. I don't think people realize the super-crisis mode the North Country is in. When you talk about the cost of fuel oil and how it hits a family, our average family income is half what it is down in southern New Hampshire.
